Choosing the right fit

MyCar sells two kinds of fit. Knowing which one you are ordering avoids most returns.

  • Tailored (custom-fit)

Tailored seat covers and custom-fit mats are made for a specific vehicle: year, make, model and series. Each product page lists the vehicles it is made for under Fits these vehicles.

Start from the vehicle finder on the homepage, or browse by make, and you will only see products that fit that vehicle.

    Find products by vehicle
  • Universal fit

Universal-fit ranges suit most standard seats and are sold by size rather than by vehicle. They are the right call when a vehicle is not listed, or for older and low-volume models.

The size range appears in the product name. Match it to the seat before ordering.

Sizing notes

  • Check the seat type first: bucket, bench, split-fold, or with a fold-down armrest. A universal cover made for a bucket seat will not sit right on a bench.
  • Seats with side airbags, integrated seatbelts or built-in controls need a cover made for that seat. If in doubt, order the tailored cover.
  • Rear seats vary more than fronts. Note whether the rear is a solid bench or a 60/40 split, and whether it has a centre armrest, before choosing a universal rear cover.
  • Mats: custom-fit sets are listed by vehicle. Semi-custom and universal sets suit a range of vehicles; check the piece count and any sizing notes on the product page.

Care and cleaning

Generic care for each material in the range. Where a product page carries its own care notes, follow those first.

Neoprene

  • Remove the cover from the seat before washing.
  • Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent. No bleach, no solvents.
  • Rinse until the water runs clear and squeeze out the excess. Do not wring.
  • Air dry in the shade. Do not tumble dry, iron or leave in direct sun.
  • Spot clean small marks with a damp cloth rather than washing the whole cover.

Canvas

  • Brush or vacuum loose dirt and dust first.
  • Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent. No bleach.
  • Do not soak for long periods, and do not use hot water or harsh detergents, which can affect any water-resistant finish.
  • Air dry out of direct sun. Do not tumble dry.
  • Refit once fully dry so the fabric does not stretch while damp.

Sheepskin

  • Shake out and brush the pile regularly with a soft brush to lift dirt and restore the nap.
  • Spot clean with a damp cloth and a wool-safe wash. Work in the direction of the pile.
  • Do not machine wash, tumble dry or soak the skin backing.
  • Air dry away from direct heat and sun. Brush again once dry.

Jacquard and velour fabrics

  • Vacuum regularly with an upholstery attachment.
  • Spot clean with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Blot rather than rub.
  • If the cover needs a full wash, hand wash in cold water and air dry flat.
  • Do not bleach, tumble dry or iron.

Leather-look and PU

  • Wipe with a damp cloth and a mild soap solution, then dry with a soft cloth.
  • Do not use solvents, alcohol-based cleaners or abrasive pads.
  • Do not machine wash or soak.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sun where possible; heat dries the surface and can lead to cracking.

Rubber mats

  • Remove the mats and shake or knock out loose dirt.
  • Hose down, or wash with water and a mild detergent and a soft brush.
  • Dry fully before refitting so moisture is not trapped under the mat.
  • Avoid oil-based or glossy dressings on the top surface. They make the mat slippery underfoot.
  • When refitting, make sure the driver mat sits flat and clear of the pedals.

Carpet mats

  • Remove the mats and shake or beat out grit, then vacuum.
  • Spot clean with a carpet cleaner or mild detergent. Blot rather than soak so the backing stays dry.
  • Air dry fully before refitting. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
  • Check the driver mat sits flat and clear of the pedals every time it goes back in.

Steering wheel covers

  • Leather-look covers: wipe with a damp cloth and a mild soap solution, then dry.
  • Fabric and sheepskin covers: remove, hand wash in cold water and air dry away from heat.
  • Do not use silicone or glossy dressings on any steering wheel cover. They reduce grip.
  • Check the cover is tight on the wheel after cleaning and before driving.

Warranty

MyCar products are covered against manufacturing faults. If a product arrives with a fault, or one shows up in use, the team will assess it and tell you how it will be handled.

To make a claim

  1. Contact the team by phone or email.
  2. Have the order number ready.
  3. Give the product name and the vehicle it was ordered for.
  4. Attach clear photos of the fault. A photo of the product fitted on the seat or in the footwell helps too.

Keep the product until the team has replied. Claims are handled through your trade account, so a sign-in makes them quicker.

Returns and exchanges

Check every delivery as it arrives. Report incorrect or transit-damaged items as soon as the delivery arrives, with the order number and photos of the item and its packaging.

Tailored products are made for a specific vehicle, so change-of-mind returns on tailored items are handled case by case.

Goods being returned must be unused and in their original packaging.

Contact the team before sending anything back. They will confirm whether the return is accepted, where to send it and what happens next.

Deliveries

Orders are dispatched from three distribution hubs and routed to the one that gets them to you fastest.

  • Sydney
  • Melbourne
  • Brisbane

Deliveries go across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

Once an order ships, tracking links appear against the order in your trade account order history. Sign in to follow each shipment. Order history
