Step-by-step guides for seat covers, mats, steering wheel covers and outdoor protection. Most products fit with your hands and a little patience. Read the safety notes before you start.
Custom-fit covers for a pair of front seats. The cover is cut to the seat shape, so the fit is firm and the order of steps matters.
Remove the headrests where the vehicle allows. Press the release button on the collar and lift the headrest straight out.
TipIf a headrest does not remove, the cover for that vehicle is made to fit around it. Check the product page.
Fit the backrest first. Slide the backrest cover down from the top, keeping the seams square to the edges of the seat.
TipWork it down in stages. Do not force it. If it will not go down, lift it off and start again.
Align the airbag seam. On seats with a side airbag, line the airbag seam on the cover up with the airbag label on the seat. Never pull a cover tight across the airbag panel.
Fit the seat base. Push the joining flap through the gap between the base and the backrest, then pull the base cover down over the front edge of the seat.
Connect the straps and buckles under the seat. Feed each strap through, clip the buckles together and tighten evenly from side to side.
TipKeep straps clear of the seat rails, wiring and the seat adjustment levers.
Refit the headrests and fit the headrest covers.
Adjust and smooth. Run the seat forward and back, recline it, and check every lever and control still works. Smooth out creases with your hands.
Tips. Covers are easier to fit when warm. Fit indoors or on a warm day, and check the straps again after the first few drives.
Which seats have side airbags, whether the headrests remove, and whether the cover suits the seat layout all depend on the vehicle. Check the product page for the exact fit before you start.
Custom-fit covers for rear benches and split seats, including fold-down sections, seatbelt slots and child restraint anchor access.
Confirm the rear seat layout matches the product page: bench or 60/40 split, fold-down or fixed, and whether there is a centre armrest.
Remove the rear headrests where possible. On a 60/40 split, match the larger cover section to the larger seat section and check left and right before fitting.
Fit the backrest sections from the top down. On split seats, fold each section forward one at a time to check the split in the cover lines up with the split in the seat.
TipFold the other section forward while you work so you have room.
Leave any fold-down zips open while you fit the cover, then close them once the cover is seated. Fold the seats down and up again to check they still move freely.
Feed each seatbelt buckle and stalk through its slot so the buckles sit above the cover. Never fit a cover over a buckle.
Find the ISOFIX points at the seat bight and the child restraint top-tether anchors. Fit the cover so its openings line up with them. Never cover an anchor point, and never cut a cover to reach one.
Fit the seat base. Push the joining flap through the gap between the base and the backrest, then secure the straps under the seat.
Fit the centre armrest section if the cover has one. Fold the armrest down, fit the section, then check the armrest folds up and down freely.
Adjust and smooth. Check every seatbelt, latch and lever, then smooth the cover out with your hands.
Tips. Fit one seat section at a time. Rushing a split seat is the most common cause of a cover that sits crooked.
Seat layouts, armrests and the position of ISOFIX and top-tether anchors vary between vehicles and series. The product page lists the exact seat configuration the cover is made for.
Universal-fit covers suit most seats. They are held with elastic straps and hooks rather than a cut-to-shape fit, so the sizing and airbag checks matter most.
Check the sizing. Compare the seat width and backrest height against the size on the product page before you unpack the cover.
Check for side airbags. Look for an airbag label on the outer edge of the backrest. Only fit a universal cover on a seat where it does not obstruct the airbag. If you are not sure, do not fit it and call the team.
TipCheck the product page for compatibility labelling before fitting to a seat with a side airbag.
Remove the headrests where possible.
Fit the backrest section from the top down. Feed the elastic straps through the gap between the base and the backrest and hook or clip them behind the seat.
Fit the base section. Feed the straps and hooks under the seat, connect them and tighten evenly.
TipElastic straps should be firm, not stretched to their limit.
Refit the headrests and fit the headrest covers where they are supplied.
Adjust. Check the seat controls, levers and seatbelt buckles are all clear and easy to reach.
Tips. A universal cover will not sit as tight as a tailored one. If the fit is loose enough to move under you, it is the wrong size.
Sizing and airbag compatibility are stated on each product page. If the page does not mention side airbags, treat the cover as unsuitable for airbag-equipped seats until you have checked with the team.
Rubber and carpet mats, custom-fit and semi-custom. The driver side matters most: the mat must stay put and never reach the pedals.
Remove the old mats. Never lay a new mat on top of an old one.
Vacuum and dry the floor. Mats grip a clean, dry surface, and damp carpet under a rubber mat will not dry out.
Fit the driver mat first. Line it up with the floor shape and, where the vehicle has retention clips or hooks, fit the mat over them so it cannot slide forward.
TipIf the vehicle has clips and the mat has no matching holes, check the product page before you fit it.
Fit the passenger and rear mats. Push each one flat into the footwell so it sits against the floor without bunching.
Check the pedal travel before you drive. With the driver mat in place, press the accelerator and the brake fully to the floor and let go. The mat must not touch, lift or catch either pedal.
Only trim a semi-custom mat if the product page says it is designed to be trimmed. Cut along the marked lines with sharp scissors. Never trim a custom-fit mat.
Tips. Check the driver mat again after the first drive. If it has moved, refit it and check the pedals again.
Whether a mat is custom-fit or semi-custom, and whether it can be trimmed or has holes for the retention clips, is stated on the product page.
A firm fit is the point. The cover should be hard to get on and impossible to spin on the rim once fitted.
Confirm the size against the wheel diameter and grip thickness on the product page.
Warm the cover if it is cold. Leave it in the sun or a warm room for a while. A cold cover is stiff and will fight you.
Start at the top. Seat the cover over the top of the rim and hold it there with one hand.
Work down both sides. Use both hands to work the cover down each side of the rim a little at a time, keeping the seam on the inside of the wheel.
TipAlternate sides so the cover stays centred.
Seat the last section at the bottom. This is the tightest part. Push it over the rim with the heels of your hands.
Check grip and horn access. Turn the wheel lock to lock and make sure the cover does not spin on the rim. Check the horn pad, the airbag cover and the stalks and controls are clear.
Tips. Use your hands only. Levering the cover on with a tool can cut the lining, and a cover that fits easily is too big.
Sizing is stated on each product page. Measure the wheel before you order.
Canvas products and outdoor covers are simple to fit but easy to fit badly. Fit them dry, secure every strap and check the tie-downs.
Fit dry. The vehicle or seat should be clean and dry, and the cover itself must be dry. Never fold or store canvas wet.
Check the orientation. Look for front, rear or top markings on the cover and check them against the product page before you drape it.
Work from the top down. Lay the cover over the highest point first and draw it down evenly on both sides.
Secure every strap. Connect each strap and buckle, tighten evenly and tuck away the loose ends so they cannot flap.
Check the tie-downs. Pull on each one after fitting. Check them again after the first windy day and retighten as needed.
Tips. Fit and remove outdoor covers with two people where you can. It is quicker and keeps the cover off the ground.

These apply to every product on this page. If a fit would break one of them, stop and call the team.
On seats with side airbags, the airbag seam on the cover must sit over the airbag panel on the seat and must never be pulled tight across it. Only fit universal covers where they do not obstruct the airbag.
Buckles, stalks and pretensioner housings must never be covered, tucked under a flap or held by a strap. Every buckle must be free to use exactly as it was before the cover went on.
A mat must never reach, lift or catch the accelerator or brake pedal. Check the full pedal travel with the mat fitted before every first drive, and again if the mat moves.
If a cover does not fit, it is the wrong cover for the seat. Do not cut, stretch or alter a cover to make it fit, and never cut an opening for an anchor point or buckle. Call the team and they will sort out the right product.
